An important message from the Virginia Chamber Music Foundation: To our patrons, friends and fellow music lovers: Due to a family illness, Steven Isserlis has regretfully had to withdraw from our “Steven Isserlis and Friends” concert on May 26th. He is particularly sorry because he has had such wonderful times on previous visits to Charlottesville; and he hopes to be back very soon. He has cancelled his entire US visit. We are pleased to announce that Edward Arron, an esteemed New York-based cellist, has graciously agreed to join the ensemble in the absence of Steven Isserlis for the May 26th concert, which will now be simply called our “Spring Concert.” Mr. Arron’s biography can be found at http://www.edwardarron.com. VIRGINIA CHAMBER MUSIC FOUNDATION SPRING CONCERT PROGRAM: W. A. Mozart — String Quintet No. 1 in B-flat Major, K. 174 César Franck — Sonata for Violin and Piano ❧ Antonin Dvorâk — Bagatelles, Op. 47 (selections) Antonin Dvorâk — String Sextet in A Major, Op. 48 The program will continue substantially as planned, with works of Mozart, Franck and Dvorâk.
