Part-time Box Office Associate
The Virginia Chamber Music Foundation (VCMF), presenter of the annual Charlottesville Chamber Music Festival, is looking for a part-time Box Office Associate who will report to the Executive Director. The Box Office Associate provides excellent customer service to patrons who wish to purchase, exchange, and pick up tickets for Virginia Chamber Music Foundation (VCMF) performances – primarily for the Charlottesville Chamber Music Festival (CCMF) in September, as well as process donations that come through the box office. The Associate will also maintain and update internal ticketing records for the organization. Close attention to detail, customer service focus, patience, and good listening skills are vital.
The position is approximately 15 hours/week, July – September, but time may fluctuate based on workload. The 2022 Festival is September 8–18, involving intense activity, so work availability during that entire period will be vital. Since advance ticket sales are via phone, mail-in orders and other concert venue box office/s, a hybrid work model is possible, but the Associate must be able to commute to VCMF’s office in Charlottesville, VA, as needed; and work onsite during the festival in and around Charlottesville, VA.
Pay range: $17–$20/hour, based on experience.

Duties:
- Make any needed updates in Arts People ticketing software in advance of On Sale of concerts and events
- Handle all ticketing requests and process all subscription and single ticket sales, exchanges, reseating requests. This may include consultation with appropriate organization personnel to ensure patron satisfaction and continuity of patron and donor relationships.
- Process and track all donations made at point of ticket purchase or given through box office at concerts
- Seat renewing subscribers per their requests, conferring, as needed, to review subscriber history
- Prepare for and participate in bulk and first-class mailings
- Handle any comp ticket requests including seating
- Along with the Executive Director, liaise with concert venues box offices for all ticketing matters including sales reports, and releasing or obtaining additional seats for sale, as applicable
- Bring Will Call tickets, list of ticket buyers, seating manifests, etc. to each concert.
- Manage box office table at concert and activities venues, where applicable, including Will Call and handling any ticket and/or seating disputes
- Obtain drop count from ushers, and complete post-concert reports that are submitted to VCMF
Qualifications:
- 1–2 years of customer service experience, box office experience is preferred
- Experience working with Arts People/Neon One ticketing platform is preferred
- Must possess excellent customer service and active listening skills, both in person and over the phone
- Must possess excellent computer skills including accurate data entry, completing secure ticket purchase and donation transactions, and navigating webpages
- High attention to detail and ability to multi-task
- Ability to work a flexible schedule; including nights & weekends during, but not limited to, the Festival in September
- Reliable transportation to VCMF office and concert venues
- Reliable secure internet and computer or tablet required when working remotely for access to the ticketing system
- Experience working with FileMaker Pro or similar database platforms or CRM software is a plus
- Knowledge of classical music is a plus
- High School diploma required; Associate or Bachelor degree desirable
- Ability to successfully pass a criminal background and driver’s record check
